How to play

Eleven names, scrambled. A starting eleven, in the positions they played, with the letters of every surname shuffled. Solve them in any order — there are no crossings, so nothing unlocks anything else.

Ninety minutes, in fifteen. The match clock runs the full ninety while fifteen real minutes pass, and your score falls as it goes. It pauses when you leave the tab.

The bench costs points. A hint is three, a letter two, and giving up a whole name is nine — the same prices the crossword charges, so a point costs the same across the family.

The team talk is free. At half time every hint is given, because eleven anagrams get no easier as you solve: what is left at the end is what you had no way into.

114 is the ceiling, and what you keep of it is the clock and the bench taken off.

Previous dailies. Any day you missed is in Other boards, to play when you like. Only today’s daily keeps a streak going.
